If you do exceed this amount, Amazon will automatically add the tax to your order at the time of payment for your purchase. For the rest of the countries, visit the customs page to know the minimum amount to avoid paying taxes.
Do I need to have my tax number in order to make a purchase?
- Colombia: No. If requested, you will have to obtain your RUT from the “Dirección de Impuestos y Aduanas Nacionales (DIAN)”.
- Chile: It is possible that Amazon will ask for your RUT to clear the product through customs when it arrives in your country. If you are asked for it, go to the Servicio de Impuestos Internos (SII) page.
- Peru: Not if you are going to place 3 orders per year. If you are going to buy more than 3 products, you will need to obtain your RUC (Registro único del contribuyente) from the website of the “Superintendencia Nacional de Aduanas y de Administración Tributaria (SUNAT)”.
Why does Amazon charge me for international shipping even though I have met the minimum amount required?
- The shopping cart includes items sold and shipped by a seller (NOT AMAZON).
- Only items that qualify for free shipping count towards the minimum dollar requirement. Delivery fees are charged for all other items.
- VAT and Import Fees Deposit don’t contribute to the minimum dollar requirement.
I hope this article has helped you with your shopping on Amazon and you know that shipping is free from a certain minimum amount. If you have any questions or doubts, don’t forget to leave a comment and we’ll be happy to answer.
